Tasty Beacon is John Carberry a filmmaker and video artist creating live action footage, animation, projections, films and documentaries from his regional base in Albany, Western Australia. John studied at the West Australian School of Art Design and Media and has 15 years experience in the film industry. Since 2013, John has been engaged several times by the South Australian based Son et Lumière projectionists Illuminart, this included work for ANZAC commemorations, Violet Verses and for projection on the State Library of South Australia's Story Wall. John's documentary about the renowned Aboriginal artist Bella Kelly was picked up by the ABC for screening on ABC News24 as well as the screening in the Art Gallery of Western Australia. Together with collaborators Tash Rolfe, Zero Shaw and others, John creates live ephemeral video art incorporating contemporary dance as Tasty Beacon, for projection at events. As well as more conventional videos.
